Free dental screenings held for uninsured kids
For Dental Health Month, the Jefferson County Department of Health will host National Give Kids A Smile Day Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free dental care and education will be given to children 5-16 years of age with no dental health insurance. The event will be held at the Central Health Clinic at 1400 6th Avenue S, 35233. For information or to schedule an appointment, call (205) 930-1017.
Golf tournament to fund scholarships
The Corner High School Alumni Association is hosting a four-man scramble golf tournament April 13 at Horse Creek Golf Course in Dora. The cost is $80 per player, with a limit of 120 golfers. Door prizes and lunch provided. All proceeds will fund scholarships for Corner High seniors. For more information, call Mike Roberts at 648-7401 or 901-7146.
Mad Hatters luncheon benefits cancer society
The 22nd annual American Cancer Society Mad Hatters Luncheon and Fashion Show is Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at The Club’s Grand Ballroom in Birmingham. Judging is at 11 a.m. and the parade of hats is at 11:30 a.m. The luncheon includes a fashion show by Gus Mayer.
