GARDENDALE —
Some garden enthusiasts are gearing up for one of the longest-running events in north Jefferson.
The North End Council of Garden Clubs is hosting its 62nd annual flower show April 18-19 at the Gardendale Civic Center.
The theme this year is “America! America!” The show is dedicated to all military veterans, according to show chairman Judy Burton.
A color guard will present the colors during the show’s opening ceremony, where local dignitaries will be invited.
Organizers invite the public to enter container-grown plants and other horticulture into the show for judging.
Plants to be judged are accepted April 17, and the show is open to the public April 18-19. There is no fee to attend the flower show, which is open to the public.
The North End Council is a member of Federated Garden Clubs of District 3; the Garden Club of Alabama Inc., Deep South Region; and National Garden Clubs Inc.
This year’s show is dedicated to Bernice Cash, a member of the Blue Star Garden Club who died earlier this year.
The North End Council of Garden Clubs is made up of five clubs: Blue Star, Dixie Gardeners, Garden Dale, Magnolia and Twin Oaks.
For more information about the show, call Burton at 631-2895 or North End Council President Margie Thomas at 631-6992.
