HAYDEN — Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church will be celebrating a big milestone in its church's history.

With the theme "Looking Back and Looking Forward," the church will be celebrating its 150-year anniversary August 24 at 4 p.m. and April 25 at noon.

All former and current members are invited to come together to celebrate the history of the church. Former pastors will come to speak, a brief history of church will be provided, and there will be congregational singing and scripture readings. Both the youth and adult choirs will also sing.

Also there will be a time to reminisce, as former members are invited to talk about past experiences with the church.

Following the services, fellowship meals will be provided.

Following the theme, church clerk Shirley Swann feels the outlook looking forward for the congregation is to "get the message of Christ" to people.

"Growth is good," Swann says. "But the main thing is we get God's word out."

The church is gathering pictures of members and information on the church, and anyone who is interested in contributing or has any questions is asked to call Susie Adams Giddy at (205) 647-0944 or Annette Staton Burtram at (205) 647-2802.

Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church is located at 1150 County Road 9 in Hayden.
