NJN/am for Thursday, May 9

Good Thursday morning to you…

Weather: How hot is it? We will likely see our warmest temperatures so far this year today, as highs will reach the upper 80s with sunny skies. Clouds will start to move in tonight with lows near 60, followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms beginning late Friday morning with highs in the lower 80s.

“See ‘ya, bubba!” Those were the parting words of a man whom Gardendale Police say robbed a local jewelry store of two gold necklaces. The suspect is a white male, about 5-foot-9 and weighing 140 pounds with brown hair and a thin beard. More details and a photo can be seen in this story. If you know of this man’s whereabouts, call Gardendale Police at 631-8787 and ask for Detective Brian Baker.

“I was stunned. My jaw dropped.” That was the reaction of Gregory Hicks, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya when he heard United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice blame the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks on the consulate which claimed four lives, including that of the ambassador to Libya. Rice went on all five Sunday news-talk television shows the following week to blame the attacks on an obscure anti-Islamic video. Hicks was testifying before a House committee, as part of an investigation in which GOP members charge that the Obama administration mishandled the attacks and the subsequent investigation. Meanwhile, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee made news on his radio show Wednesday when he said that the administration’s misconduct in the case may eventually lead to the ouster of Obama himself. “And before it’s over, I don’t think this president will finish his term unless somehow they can delay it in Congress past the next three and a half years,” Huckabee said.
