Gardendale High student arrested. A 15-year-old student has had the juvenile equivalent of an arrest warrant sworn, after fellow students said he told them they were on his “shoot them” list. The boy was sent to a local hospital for mental evaluation by his parents, after Jefferson County Sheriff’s personnel investigated the allegations and took the boy’s computer. Principal Jeff Caufield said that students were never in any actual harm, and that the boy did not have access to firearms. The boy reportedly told investigators that he was joking. The boy’s name has not been released, per normal procedure for juvenile offenders.

The manhunt ends. Authorities have yet to make a positive identification, but they believe the charred body found in a burned-out cabin in Big Bear, California is that of Christopher Dorner, the fired Los Angeles policeman who went to a rampage, killing four people. The latest to die was a sheriff’s deputy shot in a firefight with Dorner, who was pinned down in the empty cabin. The cabin then burned down, apparently after Dorner’s ammunition stockpile was ignited by pyrotechnic charges were put into the cabin to drive Dorner out.
