Good Monday morning to you, and there’s a football game tonight you may have heard about…

Weather: Warming trend. It will still be a bit brisk today, but temperatures will slowly rise throughout the week. Today will be sunny with highs in the lower 50s, with nighttime lows in the upper 30s. Clouds start to roll in Tuesday, with rain Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Crash kills teenager, injures three others. A one-car crash about a mile northeast of Pinson Valley High School killed one of the school’s students and injured three others. Jordan Long was driving with his three classmates on Faucett Cut-Off Road near Alabama Highway 75 on Saturday afternoon when the car went out of control. Long was declared dead at the scene, and one passenger was transported to a hospital with injuries. Pinson Valley students are asked to wear red Monday to remember Long, and again at Tuesday night’s Indians home basketball game with Moody.

Bodies found in car. Authorities found a car with two bodies inside Friday afternoon in Fultondale. The car had run off the road and into woods near the intersection of Carson Road and New Castle Road, close to the former CSX Railroad overpass. No word yet on what caused the incident, and identities of the deceased have not been determined.

Winging it. They were lined up Sunday morning at Gardendale’s new Buffalo Wild Wings location in the new City Center development. The first 100 customers won free winds each week for a year. The new store opened at 11 a.m. Sunday, just in time for that football game we mentioned. Speaking of which…

Sports: The magic number is 15. The BCS Championship Game is finally here, as second-ranked Alabama takes on No. 1 Notre Dame for the famous crystal football. The show begins at 7 p.m. on ESPN. The guys with money in Las Vegas peg the Crimson Tide as a 9½-point favorite. It’s the third title game for Tide in four seasons, and the first BCS championship for the Irish… NFL: The wild-card playoff round is over, as Seattle defeated Washington and injured quarterback Robert Griffin III by a 24-14 score Sunday. Elsewhere, the Ray Lewis era at Baltimore continues for at least another week, as the Ravens downed Indianapolis 24-9. In Saturday’s games, Green Bay beat Minnesota and Houston took out Cincinnati… High school wrestling: Pinson Valley won the Chris Nunn Duals at Hayden on Saturday, defeating Mortimer Jordan 44-30 in the semifinals and Fort Payne 50-27 in the championship match. Jordan took third with a 58-22 win over Hayden… NHL: Drop the puck! The league and the players union have come to an agreement that may result in teams hitting the ice again as soon as Jan. 15, playing at least 48 games in the shortened season. It’s the second longest strike/lockout in NHL history; the entire 2004-05 season was lost by a stoppage.
