Jefferson County school board calls special meeting to discuss superintendent

BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Board of Education will meet in special session Tuesday to discuss the contract of Supt. Stephen Nowlin.

As reported first by The North Jefferson News, Nowlin was given a buyout offer by the board on April 25. He had been superintendent of the county system for just under 16 months at the time. Nowlin has more than two years remaining on his contract.

The board is expected to approve the terms of the buyout during the special meeting. No other business is on the agenda issued to the media Monday afternoon.

The special meeting will be held at 3 p.m. at the JefCoEd Central Office.
