— It's Thursday, and don't ask us where that figures in the Twelve Days of Christmas...

Weather: Nice. Sunny skies once again today, and somewhat warmer than yesterday with a high around 64. Tonight's low will drop to the upper 40s as some clouds start to move in ahead of a front. Friday will see those clouds turn into scattered showers and maybe some thunderstorms, with highs in the middle 60s. We'll see more storms over the weekend, with some possibly severe weather Sunday morning.

Covered. The Gardendale City Council has voted to pay for the increased cost of health insurance for its employees next year. Mayor Othell Phillips said the rate hikes are brought about by the new federal Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

Not so happy happy happy. The patriarch of the “Duck Dynasty” family has been suspended by the show's network for comments he made in the latest issue of GQ magazine. Phil Robertson called homosexuality a sin, and said the couldn't understand why men wanted to be with other men. That brought protest from gay-rights groups, which led A&E to suspend Robertson “indefinitely.” That suspension brought a torrent of reaction on social media, with Twitter nearly melting down with tweets containing hashtags with the word “Phil” in it somewhere. (The full interview is found here – be warned that it contains some language that is clinical, but definitely for mature audiences only.)

Sports: Pettway is back. Former Alabama defensive lineman D.J. Pettway, who was kicked off the team for his role in an off-campus robbery. He was given youthful-offender status and allowed to go to junior college in Mississippi, where he was an All-American at Eastern Mississippi Community College. Pettway signed a letter of intent Wednesday, and tweeted about his return.
