NORTH JEFFERSON — Happy Thursday to you ...

Weather: Look for isolated thunderstorms today, with highs at 89 degrees. Tonight’s low is 71 degrees, with more thunderstorms possible while you sleep.

Traffic: Weather permitting, ALDOT will continue blasting operations today at 1:30 p.m. on I-65 between Daniel Payne Drive (Exit 264) and Walker Chapel Road (Exit 267). Alabama State Troopers and the Fultondale Police Department will slow northbound traffic on I-65 from I-20/59 to Walker Chapel Road. The operation will also affect U.S. Hwy. 31 southbound traffic from Ellard Road to the U.S. Hwy. 31 southbound ramp to I-65. The operation will take about 10 minutes.

Local: The Fultondale Arts Council hosted an Art After Dark event Tuesday at IberiaBank in Fultondale. The event was well attended and officials said they hope to host another event like it in the future.

On the plains: Crews trimmed the iconic oak trees at Auburn University’s Toomers Corner this week. The trees are still in danger of dying after they were allegedly poisoned by Alabama fan Harvey Updyke. The university has not made long-term decisions about the trees.
