FULTONDALE —
Two future businesses in Fultondale are coming right along and should open on schedule, according to city officials.
Murphy Express, on Walker Chapel Road in front of Lowe’s, could open as early as next week, according to Fultondale Inspections Department superintendent Darryl Aldrich.
“Everything is ready to go,” Aldrich said Friday. “They’re shooting for next week.”
Crews were pressure washing the concrete near the station’s gas pumps on Friday. Aldrich said workers still had to pour one curb, which they would likely do over the weekend unless rain intervened.
Fultondale Mayor Jim Lowery said recently that Murphy Oil U.S.A. representatives told him this is the first Murphy Oil gas station to be built in front of a Lowe’s store. They are usually located at Walmart stores.
Just a few hundred yards away, next to Zaxby’s on Morris Avenue, an Applebee’s restaurant is taking shape.
Aldrich said Applebee’s is scheduled to open in October, but recent rains that held up concrete work could push the opening to the middle of November.
A third new restaurant is also in the works in Fultondale; Five Guys Burgers and Fries is scheduled to open a restaurant in the Colonial Promenade Shopping Center.
Aldrich said recently that builders are working on obtaining their permits to begin work on Five Guys.
Lowery said he is proud to see all of the new construction ongoing in Fultondale, and expects it to draw even more crowds to the city’s shopping center, restaurants, hotels and other businesses.
