NORTH JEFFERSON — Good morning to you ...

Weather: The high for today is in the low 90s, with a 20 percent chance of rain. Tonight’s low is 73 degrees. Look for similar conditions on Thursday.

Traffic: All looks clear today, but look for a rolling roadblock on Interstate 65 in Fultondale Thursday as part of the Corridor X construction.

Locally: The Gardendale City Council took the next step this week on developing the proposed City Center property. The council on Monday awarded a bid for construction of a sewer main at the property on Mt. Olive Road. Selective Inc. submitted the winning bid of $480,000. Officials say funds will come from the 1-cent sales tax that the city enacted in January.

Sports: The Fultondale Wildcats are ranked second in the AHSAA Class 2A pre-season high school football poll, just behind defending state champion Elba. It is by far the highest that Fultondale has ever been ranked in football.

Birmingham: A Jefferson County Commission committee voted Tuesday 3-2 to close inpatient care at Cooper Green Mercy Hospital in 30 days. The closing will be placed on the Commission's agenda for a regular vote next Tuesday.
