FULTONDALE —
Iberia Bank in Fultondale will be hosting the first Art After Dark event on Tuesday. The event is set to feature two local artists from the north Jefferson area, with others from Birmingham and Helena. It is sponsored by the Fultondale Arts Council.
“Iberia Bank is a strong community partner and we are a big supporter of the Fultondale Arts Council,” said Leenise Gaddy, vice-president of Iberia Bank Fultondale. “We have wonderful artists who will display their artwork and we invite everyone to come out and enjoy this fun evening.”
The artists will include Linda Holt who works with recycled material, Carolyn Wass who works with clay, Barbara Dollar who makes jewelry, Brian Bohanan who is a folk artist, and She-She, who is also a folk artist. All have been present at the Black Creek Arts Festival, except for She-She, who is new to a Fultondale Arts Council event.
“We have garnered the support of the North Jefferson area for the Fultondale Arts Council for the past two years,” said Kara Kennedy, chair of the arts council. “And it’s just one more program that we’re offering free to the public, so we’re really excited about having one of the major sponsors at Iberia Bank host this event.”
Art After Dark will also feature music by jazz musician Keith Williams, who is a prominent local vocalist and guitarist. He attended Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts and has opened for Ramsey Lewis, who is a nationally renowned jazz composer. Williams is a Birmingham resident.
“I’ve known Keith for several years,” said Kennedy. “He is an outstanding guitarist.”
Williams primarily composes Urban Smooth Jazz.
The works on display at Art After Dark are for sale to those interested in purchasing them. Light Hors d’oeuvres will be served as well.
Art After Dark is a free event and will take place on Aug. 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Iberia Bank is located on 1301 Decatur Highway.
