Pinson man killed in crash

PINSON — A Pinson man was killed last night in a vehicle accident.

The accident happened at about 11:30 p.m. in the 7500 block of Mack Hicks Road.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies spoke to the homeowner where the accident occurred. The homeowner told them he had been asleep and was awakened by a loud crash. He went outside to investigate and saw a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck in his yard. He walked to the truck and turned the key off.

The driver, Monte Dale Reed, 61, of Pinson had been ejected and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The truck left the roadway exiting a curve approximately 275 feet north of the homeowners driveway, struck multiple bushes and a tree before coming to rest in the driveway.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt.
