BIRMINGHAM — Ronald Rhodes, a Corner resident who has served on the Jefferson County Board of Education for 13 years, is resigning.
A statement from JefCoEd on Friday said that Rhodes was stepping down because of family responsibilities.
Rhodes joined the board in 2000. His current six-year term was scheduled to end in November of 2018.
The board is now accepting applications to fill Rhodes' seat. According to the statement, "Candidates must meet all legal qualifications for the position, including those set out in §16-8-1 of the Code of Alabama (1975), and must reside within the Jefferson County School District."
Letters of interest and resumes will be accepted through the end of the business day (4:30 p.m.) on Monday, December 9, 2013, and should be addressed to:
