WARRIOR — If you see a fire on Poplar Street in Warrior soon, don't worry — the fire department is on top of it.
The Warrior City Council approved a request to burn down a house — or what's left of it — at 529 Poplar Street. The mobile home had been abandoned, and has been stripped of scrap to leave just a shell for firefighters to burn down.
In the only other business during Tuesday's council meeting, an appropriation of $2,000 was approved for Mike Ragland in return for his work in organizing this year's Warrior Day celebration. In the pre-council work session, Ragland said he would put most of the money into various expenses of the event itself.
The next regular council session is scheduled for Sept. 16.
