Fultondale council approves Walker Chapel Road repaving

FULTONDALE — The Fultondale City Council voted to authorize Mayor Jim Lowery to enter into agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation for the resurfacing and striping of Walker Chapel Road.

The action came during the council's regular meeting Monday morning.

The road has been worn out and damaged by traffic, which prompted Councilman Joe Bolton to move to adopt the resolution. The council approved the measure unaminously.

The repaving is made possible by federal grants.

In other buisness, the council:

  • Elected Bolton and Tommy Loden to fill their seats in the next council term, as they have no opposition in the coming election
  • Approved the installation of new street lights on Burke Circle and Mountain Drive
  • Changed the next council meeting from Aug. 13 to Aug. 6 at 11:30 a.m. due to scheduling conflicts.
