Gardendale council hires workers

GARDENDALE — The city of Gardendale hired two people Monday during a city council meeting — Seth West as a part-time laborer in the parks and recreation department and Jennifer Mayfield as a court clerk.

In other business, the council:

• appointed Danny Goolsby to the parks and recreation board

• publicly thanked De Allen and Oscar Mann for their service as members of the parks and recreation board; both recently stepped down

• granted an easement to Alabama Power Company so the company can perform work on city property at 3811 New Castle Road in order to serve the new park
