— Here's an update on news around the nation this Tuesday afternoon...

Manhunt ends for ex-L.A. policeman. Christopher Dorner, the fired Los Angeles cop who is accused of killing three people before going on the run, is reportedly cornered in a cabin in the Big Bear ski country of southern California. The CBS television station in Los Angeles is reporting that two sheriff's deputies have been shot, and that Dorner is heavily armed and exchanging gunfire with police. The incident began when someone matching Dorner's description carjacked a pickup truck.

Four Alabama football players arrested. Tuscaloosa Police have charged four freshmen Tide players with robbery and credit-card fraud, stemming from an inceident early Monday morning. Tyler Hayes and Eddie Williams were charged with robbing and beating an Alabama student, then using his credit card in a vending machine, according to ESPN. Brent Calloway and D.J. Pettway were also charged with another robbery and use of that victim's credit card in another machine. Williams had been arrested on Sunday for illegally carrying a forearm without a license. All four players have been suspended by the football program, according to a release issued Tuesday afternoon by coach Nick Saban.

State of the Union speech tonight. President Obama will deliver his annual address to a joint session of Congress tonight at 8 p.m. He is expected to focus on jobs and the economy, though foreign policy will receive increased attention thanks to North Korea's test of a nuclear explosive this week. Sitting beside First Lady Michelle Obama will be Apple CEO Tim Cook. On the other side of the political spectrum, rock and roll singer and ardent gun-rights advocate Ted Nugent will be in the visitors' gallery, as a guest of Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas.
