"Big Al" to appear at Gardendale Miracle League opener

GARDENDALE — "Big Al," the University of Alabama's sports mascot, will make a special appearance in Gardendale on Friday to kick off the fifth season of the Miracle League.

The Crimson Tide mascot will appear between 6 and 7:30 p.m. Miracle League games will be held at 6 and 7.

The Gardendale Miracle League is a baseball organization designed for children with special needs. It is one of only two such leagues currently operating in greater Birmingham. The league's ball field is at Luman Harris Park, 601 Park Street.
