NORTH JEFFERSON — It’s Tuesday and it won’t feel like spring this afternoon.
Weather: Getting chilly. Sunshine will start this beautiful Tuesday morning, but with afternoon clouds and a high at 52 the winds will start to chill things a bit. The low tonight will be in the upper 20s so bundle up the plants before going to bed.
As the search continues for the debris from the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, the bad weather over the search area in the southern Indian Ocean continued to ground search plans throughout the evening. The search is scheduled to continue this morning.
Yesterday turned up no survivors in the Washington landslide in rural Washington state. As of late last night 176 people were still unaccounted for and 14 have been pronounced dead. After a month of heavy rain, the hillside finally gave way with debris covering over a square mile.
Registration will be starting soon for several area schools. Among them are Mt. Olive Elementary who will hold kindergarten and new student registration for the 2014-2015 session on April 8. Registration for kindergarten and first graders coming from private kindergarten will take place on April 8 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the office. The following items will be required: Student’s certified birth certificate (not the hospital copy), proof of immunization (blue card), social security card, custody papers if needed, two forms of residence verification (utility bill, lease, and mortgage statement) and driver license. Registration for K5 in Bryan Elementary School is April 3 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Bring the following items: birth certificate, social security card, blue immunization form from the student. From the parent, you will need to bring two proofs of residence and drivers license. There will be a registration packet to fill out the day of registration.
