Gardendale woman killed in North Birmingham crash

BIRMINGHAM — A Gardendale woman was killed after her SUV crashed on Interstate 65 in North Birmingham Saturday morning.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office said that Jennifer Alecia Fuller died on the scene, about a quarter mile south of the Daniel Payne Drive/41st Street exit.

Fuller's Ford Explorer crashed into the median barrier, and she was ejected. Fuller's vehicle was the only one involved, and she was the only person in the SUV.

The crash backed up traffic on I-65 southbound all the way to the I-22 construction zone, and Birmingham Police closed the entrance ramp to I-65 South near the Flying J truck stop until the scene could be cleared.

The crash occurred just after 5 a.m.
