Chelsea man pleads guilty to crimes in Hayden, Warrior

ONEONTA — Russell Atchison, 46, of Chelsea, Ala., entered a plea of guilty to burglary 3rd, stalking, violation of a protection order and theft of property 2nd. 

Under the Habitual Offender Act, Atchison received 15 years in the Alabama Department of Corrections, a $950 fine and court costs. 

Atchison stole a purse and credit cards from a daycare worker at Smokerise Baptist Church in Hayden in June 2011, according to Blount County District Attorney Pamela L. Casey.

The burglary and stalking charges arose in June 2011, in Warrior. Casey said Atchison broke into the home of a previous girlfriend and continued to call her and leave threatening messages. 

Casey commended the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, particularly Deputy Mark Staton and Investigator Len Chambless
