Sports: Three-peat for Indians. Pinson Valley captured its third straight Jefferson County Schools Wrestling Championship on Saturday at Fultondale. The Indians finished 36 points ahead of runner-up Mortimer Jordan, with the host Wildcats third and Gardendale fourth. Hank Turner, Marco Mandujano, Brandon Adams, Jonathan Duke and Barrett Crossley all won weight-class titles for Pinson. Braxton Worthington took gold for Jordan; Dylan Trice, Wes Smith and Austin Durbin won for Fultondale; and Scotty Clemens and Daniel Adkins took gold for the Rockets. We'll have the full story a bit later today... Basketball: The Indians also had a big night in hoops on Friday, as both the boys and girls teams won over their Center Point counterparts in overtime. Both of the Eagles teams were ranked in the top-10 statewide... NFL: The teams are set for the conference championship games next week. On Sunday, Peyton Manning and Denver held off a late rally by San Diego for a 24-17 win; they'll face New England and Tom Brady, setting up an epic quarterback battle. Elsewhere, San Francisco took down Carolina 23-10, setting up a meeting with Seattle next week.
