FULTONDALE —
A business owner is celebrating 25 years of educating students and providing affordable haircuts.
Linda McGuffie owns and operates Linda’s School of Beauty, at 1810 Decatur Hwy. She bought the business 25 years ago and added the name “Linda” to the name.
“We train students and we do everything a beauty shop does,” McGuffie said.
McGuffie has been in the hair business since she was 16 years old. Now at age 71, she is still passing her skills on to others.
The course at her shop is 1,500 hours — more than nine months — and prepares students for the state exam that allows them to work as cosmetologists.
“All of our students pass state boards,” she said. “We don’t have any failures.”
McGuffie said people travel from as far as Tennessee to get their hair done at her school.
“I really appreciate all the people from Fultondale and Gardendale; all the ones who have helped make the school a success,” she said.
