McCay indicted for shooting at vintage airplane

HAYDEN — A federal grand jury has returned an indictment against a Hayden man charged with shooting at a vintage airplane.

Jason Allen McCay was indicted on a single count of attempted interference with an aircraft, for an incident that took place in June. McCay, who was arrested on July 19 and released on bond the next day, is alleged to have shot at a World War II-era Stearman biplane that was flying over his house on Arkadelphia Road, between Hayden and Corner.

The plane was flying out of the private Campbell's Field airstrip. It was on its first flight after a lengthy restoration by Fred Campbell, who owns the airstrip.

A trial date has not been set.
