Gardendale Police charge gas-station employee with faking robbery

GARDENDALE — It was a robbery that wasn’t.

A Birmingham woman has been arrested for a fake robbery attempt Friday in order to keep the money that was supposedly taken.

Violet Marie Bledsoe, 53, was arrested on charges of first-degree theft of property and making a false report to law enforcement.

According to Gardendale Police spokesman Lt. Bryan Lynch, Bledsoe faked the robbery at the BP gas station on Fieldstown Road, whe she was employed, and then took the money for herself.
