BROOKSIDE — Brookside has been holding steady over the past year.

One of the more significant changes that has taken place in the town is the relocation of the town’s Boys and Girls Club. The club has now moved within the past year to the Brookside Town Complex.

While the organization has been in Brookside for more than 20 years, it has continued to make an impact on the community.

The club offers a place for children to go after school and during the summer. For kids who may not have economical advantages, the club helps to give students “encouragement and support,” said Todd Love, an associate of the club.

From recreational activities to educational activities, the program is designed to try to “keep kids off the street,” Love added. The program has signed up about 100 children and sees about 70 of them per day.

In addition to the location change for the club, Brookside is witnessing success with its local canoe company and campground, both of which have had numerous rentals recently.

The area also has the benefits of “Corridor X,” the future Interstate 22 that will bring more travelers into the area.

Some of these travelers have come from all over the world.

Overall, the town has been consistent over the previous year and things have held steady for the town. Brookside continues to offer many outdoor activities for its residents and tourists to the area.
