JEFFERSON COUNTY —
Dean Taylor of Morris is running unopposed for a seat on the Jefferson County School Board.
Taylor faces no challengers on either the Republican or Democratic tickets.
The position opened recently when board member Tommy Little announced he would not run for re-election.
Taylor was one of three finalists for an appointed position on the board after Ronald Rhodes resigned in November with four years left on his term.
The board chose Martha Bouyer to fill that vacancy. Tommy Little, whose position Taylor will be filling, said the board had a very difficult time choosing from among the three candidates because all were highly qualified.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be able to contribute to the great job the Jefferson County Board of Education is already doing with students, my son included,” Taylor said. “With the current situation in our county schools, there will be a lot of hard work and long hours. I’m up to the task and I can’t wait to get started.”
