Sports: Hornets sweep. Locust Fork won both the boys and girls games in Monday’s basketball doubleheader at Hayden. The 10th-ranked Hornet girls won 53-37, with Kasi McMillan scoring 22 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. The Locust Fork boys buried the Wildcats 69-35, with Clay Smith leading the way with 15 points. Meanwhile, Mortimer Jordan’s girls go to 4-0 in Area 11 play with a two-point win at Curry, and the Blue Devil boys won by 15… NFL: Chris Johnson ran for a franchise-record 94-yard touchdown, and the New York Jets turned the ball over five times as Tennessee won 14-10 on Monday Night Football. Jets QB Mark Sanchez threw four interceptions… College football: Former all-state defensive lineman Bradley Patterson of Red Bay was dismissed from his walk-on spot on North Alabama’s team, after he used a racial slur against President Obama on his Twitter feed. Patterson was complaining about Obama’s speech at a vigil in Newtown, Conn. interrupting the NBC Sunday Night Football telecast.
