Weather: Showers could continue through the morning, but look for some sunshine this afternoon. Today’s high is 56 and tonight’s low is 33. Look for the rest of the week to stay dry and sunny, with highs in the 60s.
Holiday festivities
Gardendale is hosting its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony tonight, 6:30 p.m., at the Gardendale Civic Center amphitheater. The community is invited to attend and to sing Christmas carols with children’s choirs from local schools and Gardendale Music. Santa Claus will also be there with special crafts for children.
The town of Morris will have its Christmas parade Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by a festival at the city park. The fee for parade entry or a booth is $10 or a new, unwrapped toy. Proceeds benefit the town’s Families Helping Families Christmas program.
Later on Saturday, Kimberly is hosting its Christmas parade. Entry is free; lineup is at 5 p.m. at Bryan Elementary School. A tree-lighting ceremony will follow at the city park immediately after the parade. Rain date is Dec. 8
Fultondale is hosting its Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Monday. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. at the gazebo behind city hall. The lighting ceremony is at 7 p.m., followed by more refreshments and visits with Santa Claus at the BSDA hall across the street. Children can have pictures with Santa made for free.
Trafford’s Christmas parade is Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. Entry is free. Lineup is at noon at the Trafford Ball Park.
Warrior’s Christmas parade is Dec. 15. Entry is free. Lineup is at Warrior Elementary School at 9:15 a.m.
