FULTONDALE —
The City of Fultondale remains in clean-up mode, and council members last week voted to rid the area of three more eyesores in the Glendale neighborhood.
The hard-hit subdivision behind city hall suffered major damage from the April 27, 2011 tornado that showed no mercy on the city, and three more houses will soon be demolished because of safety issues.
The three houses are located at 1208 5th Ave., 1320 4th Ave. and 1308 4th Ave.
The city will pay for the demolition and removal of the debris and place a lien on the property to recover the cost from the property owners. The three houses were inspected and determined to be unsafe by city officials.
The next council meeting was originally scheduled for Monday, May 28 at 11:30 a.m., but that falls on Memorial Day. Council members voted to reschedule that meeting for Tuesday, May 29 at 11:30 a.m.
Fultondale Arts Council Volunteer Chair Kara Kennedy invited everyone to the play titled Dixie Swim Club that will be performed at Fultondale High School. The play features actors from the Birmingham Community Theatre Scene, not high school students.
