Four people were arrested this week on charges of prostitution, after they were caught offering sex on websites such as Craigslist.
The arrests were part of an undercover operation by the sheriff's vice and narcotics unit.
Chief Deputy Randy Christian said that three women and one transsexual were arrested after deputies saw their ads on Craigslist and another site called backpage.com. The deputies arranged to meet with the advertisers, who then arrested them when they offered to engage in sex acts for money.
Those arrested are:
- Brandy Nicole Curtis, 24, who went by the screen name “Brooklyn”;
- Dawn Davis Gandy, 40, of Chelsea who went by the screen name “Soccer Mom”;
- Parinda Jeanette Sutton, 22, of Birmingham who went by the screen name “Miarria”;
- Malik Shabaza Gresham, 22, of Homewood who went by the screen name “Jasmine”.
All were charged with soliciting protitution, and were released on $300 bond.
The undercover operation took place over a three-week period.
