UPDATED: Missing Huffman man's body found in East Lake Park

BIRMINGHAM — Birmingham Police have confirmed that a missing Huffman man has been found dead in East Lake Park.

Rescue crews recovered a body Tuesday afternoon that was found floating in the park's namesake lake. Late Tuesday night, police confirmed that the body was that of Glenn Paul Florence.

Florence, 61, was reported missing from his home in Huffman by his son on Sunday. Florence's van was found at the park, where the son said his father had gone fishing.

The son and a Birmingham Police officer could not find Florence, and a Sheriff's Office dive team searched the lake on Monday. The divers found nothing. The body later rose to the surface and was reported to police by a park visitor.

No word yet on what caused Florence to fall into the lake.
