Warrior council vacates Cherokee Road

The Warrior City Council voted Monday night to vacate a portion of Cherokee Road, an unused road near Interstate 65 at the Dana Road exit.

The segement of city street is joined by Cherokee Trail at one end, and Leisure Drive at the other. Together, the three streets form a triangle-shaped loop whish has exits on Sky Lane.

Abandoning Cherokee Road would effectively turn Cherokee Trail and Leisure Drive into dead-end streets.

The petition was signed by Richard Krofchick, Betty Krofchick and Martha Jane Sandlin, all of whom own property which abuts the street. By Alabama law, those residents may petition to have the street vacated, or abandoned, as long as other neighbors can still access their property.

The petition was the only otem of business at the council’s regular session Monday.
