Pedestrian struck, critically injured on Alabama 75 near Palmerdale

PALMERDALE — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reports that a female pedestrian was struck by a truck on Alabama Highway 75 early Monday morning, and is in critical condition.

Chief Deputy Randy Christian said that the victim, age 70, had been walking in traffic on the highway near Marsh Mountain Road in Palmerdale when she was struck by a utility truck.

She was airlifted from the scene to a Birmingham hospital.

Christian did not identify the victim, but said that "it was reported she had wondered into traffic in the past."

We'll have further updates as they become available.
