FORESTDALE — A Forestdale man has been charged with receiving stolen ladders — lots of them.
Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies have arrested Matthew Scott Hall, 29, after they found several ladders they believe were stolen from an AT&T facility in Graysville.
Deputies were called to the facility on Third Street to investigate the theft, and found 34 ladders worth about $11,300 missing, along with a large chain used to secure the facility.
An investigation led them to Hall's residence in the 1000 block of Bivens Chapel Road, where deputies found one of the ladders in the bed of a truck in the driveway, plus several others leaning against the house. Hall told deputies that a co-worker gave him the ladders, and told Hall to pawn them.
Hall allowed deputies to search the truck, where they found more ladders, several shovels and a large cut chain. An AT&T worker identified the items as property of the company.
Sheriff's investigators believe that Hall may have pawned more than 100 ladders over a six-month period.
Hall was charged with first-degree receiving stolen property, and was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond.
