Mortimer Jordan's Peyton Davis verbally commits to Auburn

Peyton Davis, the starting center for the Mortimer Jordan girls' basketball team, has made a verbal commitment to play her college ball at Auburn.

Davis, a 6-foot-4 senior-to-be, made her announcement in a brief interview Monday. Both her father and Blue Devils' coach Marty Caldwell confirmed the commitment Tuesday afternoon.

Davis, who is the tallest basketball player at Jordan, girls or boys, will likely play the power forward position, the Tiger coaching staff told her father Steve.

Peyton Davis is playing travel ball this summer with the Birmingham Roadrunners.

The full story appears in Wednesday's edition of The North Jefferson News.
