Sports: Finish strong. Both Corner and Pinson Valley finished off regular-season play with victories on Monday, as they prepare for playoff doubleheaders on Friday. The 10th-ranked Indians battled back from an early deficit to beat Leeds 8-2, while Corner waited until the fifth inning to get on the scoreboard, then got hot and won 11-0 over Good Hope. Jack Robbins started the barrage with a three-run homer for the Yellow Jackets… Softball: Brooke Meadows and Katie Parr hit solo homers on consecutive pitches, as visiting No. 6 (5A) Hayden took down No. 6 (4A) Corner 6-2. Wildcat pitcher Caitlyn Kirkland fanned 10 Yellow Jackets in the first six innings. Meanwhile, Mortimer Jordan used four pitchers, one of whom was also a good hitter, as the fourth-ranked Blue Devils edged Oak Grove 4-2. Bailey Murphy had three RBIs with a hit in her only official at-bat, plus a walk and a sacrifice fly; she also pitched the last inning to earn the save.
