MORRIS —
The town of Morris set the stage Tuesday for upcoming municipal elections by adopting an ordinance numbering council places and setting the pay for poll workers.
The chief poll inspector will earn $150 and four clerks will receive $100 each. It is the same amount the town paid for the last election.
In other business, the council:
• gave permission for Fire Chief Rocky Bell to apply for FEMA grants totaling about $100,000 for various equipment
• approved spending up to $2,000 for Police Chief Brian Cochran to attend a police chiefs’ conference at Gulf Shores in July. The funds cover lodging and per diem for six days and five nights.
The next regular council meeting is July 24, 6 p.m., at Morris Town Hall.
