The Next Food Network Star may be…. Birmingham party maven Martie Duncan, who on Sunday night made the finals of the cable channel’s competition to find its newest host. Duncan, a Trussville native, and teammate Justin Warner made a pilot of what their prospective Food Network show.
Reorganization time. Kimberly Mayor Craig Harris is now officially the ex-mayor, as his resignation took effect Sunday. Sports: Kahne can. Kasey Kahne won his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the year at New Hampshire, thanks in part to problems in the pits for Denny Hamlin, who led most of the way and ended up second. Clint Bowyer, Dale Earnardt Jr. and Brad Keselowski completed the top five… Baseball: Ben Sheets threw six scoreless innings as the Atlanta Braves ran their winning streak to seven games with a 6-1 win over the Mets. Sheets, in his first start since leaving the Oakland A’s, allowed two hits while striking out five. The Braves are three games behind division leader Washington in the NL East.
