Residents who want to run for local office must turn in their paperwork by Tuesday in order to be on the ballot for the Aug. 28 elections.

It appears that in some cities, candidates are waiting until close to deadline, as only a handful of people have qualified so far. In other cities, such as Fultondale and Gardendale, there is already a full slate of candidates on the ballot.
