NJN/am for Tuesday, July 10

NORTH JEFFERSON — Good morning on this beautiful Tuesday ...

Traffic: There is no scheduled construction today by the county or the state in north Jefferson County.

Weather: Look for thunderstorms and rain today, with highs near 90 degrees and lows in the 70s. Looking ahead to the weekend, it looks like sunshine with highs in the 90s and possible afternoon and early evening storms.

Locally: Residents for and against the closure of Phillips Drive in Gardendale had their say Monday night at a public hearing. The Gardendale City Council has heard all comments and will decide at a council meeting whether to permanently close the road or to open it back up. Right now it is temporarily closed while the Dollar General store was being built.
