Sports: One Giants sweep for mankind. Marco Sctuaro’s RBI single in the top of the 10th inning turned out to be the game-winner, and in the bottom half relief pitcher Sergio Romo left Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera looking at a called strike three, as San Francisco swept Detroit with a 4-3 victory in Game 4 of the World Series. Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval, who hit three home runs in the first game of the series, was named the most valuable player… Pro football: Don’t look now, but the Atlanta Falcons are 7-0, thanks to a 30-17 win over Philadelphia on Sunday. Quarterback Matt Ryan finished off the Falcons’ first three drives with touchdown passes. It’s the first time Atlanta has started a season with seven straight wins… College football: Guess who’s sitting atop the BCS rankings? Alabama, of course, but the surprise comes next. Kansas State is now second and Notre Dame third, while Oregon stays in fourth despite being ranked second in the AP and USA Today polls. LSU is fifth; they host the Crimson Tide on Saturday.
