May 20, 6 p.m.

The Pink Ribbon Run, which is a fund-raiser for the Susan G. Komen organization for cancer research, was rescheduled. It will be held at the Kenneth Clemons Athletic Complex in Gardendale.



May 21, 10 a.m.

The Gardendale Historical Society will meet May 21 at the Gardendale Civic Center in the fireside room at 10 a.m. Jim Phillips will be speaking on Antebellum Alabama and early Birmingham. Everyone is welcome to join.



May 21, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

East Gardendale Baptist Church on Tarrant Road will have a free fish fry on May 21 at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Bring your lawn chair but not your pet. Good food, music, fun and fellowship. Call 608-0889 for more information.



May 22, 2-4 p.m.

Parents and graduates of The Little School are invited to attend a reception to celebrate Miss Jo Griffin’s 50th year of teaching on May 22, 2-4 p.m. at The Little School. Please park in the empty lot between the school and Jim ‘N Nick’s.



June 2-10

The North Jefferson Women's Center is receiving donations of items to be sold at their annual fund raising yard sale. The sale will be June 2, June 3, June 4, June 9 and June 10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily except on June 10, they will be closing at 3 p.m. The sale will be held in the Serra Subaru building adjacent to Serra Kia on Kerr Drive off Fieldstown Road in Gardendale. The needs include clothing all sizes, household, tools, electronic items all in good condition. You will be given a letter for a tax donation upon receipt of your items. To donate, call 608-0100 for more information about where and when to deliver your items.

The Gardendale Senior Center will host a Senior Adult Prom.



August 31

A Senior Adult Informational and Health Fair will be held at the Gardendale Civic Center. Any local businesses wishing to have a free booth can call the center at 631-7240.



Gardendale High School alums are organizing a class reunion for students that graduated in 1981-1983. Email information to gardendalereunion

Anyone who started school at Gardendale Elementary School in 1951 with Lucille Hardiman or Ruby McKinney as their teacher is urged to contact Harold Harris at 631-3367 or haroldh3645@att.net. Several former students are trying to organize a reunion.



The Gardendale Senior Center hosts a dance every Tuesday, 6-9 p.m. Music provided by Men in Black: Jerry Bosworth, Jerry Bradley, Buddy Bailey, Paul Simpson, Skip Drake, and Roger Bailey.

There will be a spaghetti lunch and dinner fundraiser for Donald Myrick on May 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dine in or carry out from New Hope Ministries Church on Shady Grove Road. $10 per meal which includes salad, spaghettie, bread, dessert and drinks. Monetary gifts are accepted as well. Please make checks payable to Donald Myrick, PO Box 606, Fultondale, AL 35068. All proceeds will be applied to the cost of travel, lodging and meals for two weeks for his upcoming surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
