TRAFFORD — The mayor of the town of Trafford has stepped down.
Clint Daniels, who defeated incumbent mayor Robert Niblett in municipal elections last year, anounced his resignation during a town council meeting last Monday night, according to town clerk Ashley Hays.
“He did not submit a written resignation,” Hays said. “Since it is part of the minutes, it’s considered official.”
Daniels confirmed Thursday that he did resign, but added that he would have nothing more to say for the time being.
Mayor Pro Tempore Lee Motes takes over as acting mayor until the council can take further action, Hays said, adding that it’s the first time in her memory that a Trafford mayor has resigned.
