MORRIS —
A single-story home, located across the street from a fire station and across a side street from Morris City Hall, was gutted by fire Monday night.
Morris firefighters said they discovered the blaze as they were coming out of the day room at their station, and responded immediately at 7:08 p.m. The fire took about an hour to strike down; crews remained on the scene for at least two more hours to take care of hot spots.
The home is located in the 600 block of Banks Street. No one was in the home at the time; the occupants had left about 45 minutes before the fire was discovered. There were no injuries to fire crews.
Trucks from Kimberly, Warrior and Gardendale were called in to assist in putting out the blaze.
Morris firefighters said the preliminary investigation points toward a possible electrical fire.
