FULTONDALE —
Local pastor Nelson Hannah has published his second book, “Impact! Recognize and Maximize Your Defining Moments” from Jebaire Publishing.
“It’s about how to recognize defining moments that God places in our minds,” Hannah said. “And then, once we recognize them, what to do with them, and by that I mean how to maximize the most out of them. I think defining moments are really the skeleton of who we are. We can look at our defining moments and understand why we’re at the place where we are.”
Prior to his second book, Hannah wrote “God’s Threshing Floor: Moving From Fruitful to Useful,” about spirituality in difficult times. He is a graduate of Southeastern Bible College and earned a master’s in Divinity School.
He is the pastor of Eagle’s Wing Church, which meets every Sunday at Fultondale Elementary School. It is a relatively new church, having been open for 10 months.
As part of Hannah’s writing influences, he recognized Cecil Murphey, who is an author of theology and wrote the foreword to Hannah’s latest book. He also acknowledged author Brennan Manning as an inspiration.
Hannah said that he worked on Impact! for 8 months. He drew from lessons he taught at Sunday school at Eagle’s Wing Church. Organizing and outlining the manuscript was one of the biggest challenges, he said.
Hannah encouraged potential writers to speak with published writers and get with friends and family for feedback.
“It’s a process,” he said. “It’s not an instant thing. Read a lot. Go to writers conferences. That’s one of the things I did and I still do.”
Impact! is available for pre-order on www.jebairepublishing.com. It will be released on July 26.
Hannah maintains a website called www.fruitfultouseful.com.
