GARDENDALE —

Area authors will gather this week in order to meet and talk with residents about their work.

The Gardendale-Martha Moore Public Library is hosting its first Authors Expo on Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Lisa Keith, who works in the library’s adult services department, is heading up the event.

“I hope people will come and get more interested in reading and in the library and what we have to offer,” she said. “We’re hoping this is popular so we can start doing an authors expo every year.”

There will be various types of books represented at the event, including fiction, non-fiction and Christian-based works.

Some of the local authors attending are Hollis Hughes of the Hayden area, who wrote “Mindful of Him” and is about to have a second book published; Bobby Sutton of Gardendale, who wrote “I Slept with Potiphar’s wife;” J.D. Weeks of Gardendale, who wrote “Premocar: Made in Birmingham” and numerous other books; and other area authors.
