WARRIOR, CORNER, HAYDEN — Garden tip: If you have not set out your trees, it is time to do so. Arbor Day is this month, so plant any tree. Remember to mix 2 tablespoons of corn syrup and a half-cup of apple juice with one gallon of water to dampen the roots as you plant. Water for seven days after planting.
• Happy birthday greetings to: Helen Harris, Richard Crane and Harold Dean Brockway on Feb. 8; Clara Dunn on Feb. 12; and Holly Blackmon today. I hope all of these have a great day and year.
• It’s census taking time. Paulette Campbell will be testing to hire census workers at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Feb. 11 and 18 at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. You can come at one time, not both times. For information, call 307-5730 or go online at www.2010. censusjobs.gov.
• The Lions Club still has pecans on sale at R and R Drug Store, Superior Bank, Youngs Grocery in Trafford, Jones Cleaners, Ace Hardware and the Warrior Library. They are $15 for a bag of cracked pecans. Also, the Warrior history calendars can be purchased for $5 each at the same places the pecans are sold, plus McCurry Furniture store.
• Remember to pray for our troops that are in harm’s way and for our country!
