Sheriff's office: Man killed on train tracks believed to be from Warrior

MORRIS —

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office detectives are still in the process of determining the identity of a person who was struck by a train in Morris Friday night, but it is believed the victim is a 28-year-old Warrior man who was often seen walking on the tracks, according to Chief Deputy Randy Christian this afternoon.

Just after 9:30 p.m. Friday, deputies were called to a railroad crossing on Morris-Majestic Road to investigate a report of a person being struck by a train. Deputies learned that a man was seen on the track and appeared to ignore the train horn. A search was conducted and the body of a man was discovered along the tracks at about 10:45 pm. It was not immediately clear why the man was on the tracks.

Detectives are awaiting positive identification from the coroner's office.
